A couple decades ago in our home kitchen, you could find me waiting for my mother to finish spooning pumpkin bread batter into loaf pans so that I could lick the bowl clean. My mother, Mina, had a few show-stopping recipes for special occasions in her back pocket.

Picture a pineapple upside down cake with cherries and buttered walnuts, shortcake biscuits topped with syrupy strawberries and gently whipped cream, and pillowy soft, nutty pumpkin bread that made the rounds to all our family and friends during the holidays.

The world of baking and desserts dazzled me. I tore the recipes out of every magazine we got, we spent hours watching cooking shows together, and I experimented with new recipes. I came to find that cookies were my favorite treat to make, and also my sisters' favorite dessert to eat.

I grew fond of gift-giving after seeing people rejoice when given a loaf of homemade pumpkin bread. Thoughtful gifts are a way to show someone that you care, and that you value their place in your life. I've been packing and shipping cookies to friends for years, and I've learned a few tips and tricks along the way.

With a strong love for baking, and appreciation for the value of a good gift, we created so dessert.

I hope you find something you love.
